Energy conservation is the most effective way of preventing climate change on a global scale and saving money on a personal one. With support from Minehead Town and West Somerset District Councils, Transition Minehead and Alcombe runs the Energy Saving Centre which is located in the former Traveline office in Summerland car park near the Co-op store in Minehead.
Over the past two years Transition Minehead and Alcombe and Forum 21 volunteers have accumulated a huge amount of information on energy efficiency as well as samples and models of products such as secondary double glazing and solid wall insulation. They try to keep up to date with the frequently changing regulations, grants and tariffs. If they do not know the answer to your questions, they will find someone who does!
The Centre can put you in touch with Forum 21 volunteers who are trained to audit your home and assess what would help to reduce your heat loss and costs.
The Centre is open on the first and third Saturday of each month from 11am to 1pm. If you are unable to visit the centre during its open hours a volunteer can respond to telephone queries.
